After releasing my latest paranormal romance, Strings of Magic, I had a few readers asking if there would be a book two! Originally I had planned on it being a standalone, but it looks like there will be more to come.
“Wow! More! I need more! This is my first book by Karli Rush, but it won’t be my last.
I loved the storyline, the slow burn romance at first, then how everything collided just like a supernova!
Oh my! Liv and Luke are hotter than a house a’fire! I absolutely loved this book. Everything was perfect. I was never bored, and I could not put it down. The only downside to this book was that it ended!
I need more Luke and Liv! I’m seriously thinking about re-reading this book again, and honestly, that’s rare for me.
The only caution I have for anyone before reading this book is that it contains a lot of F bombs.
Wonderfully written. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who loves PNR books like I do.“
Goodreads Reviewer
I can honestly say nothing makes me more ecstatic than reading a wonderful review and knowing someone enjoyed the story!
All right, so on to the next announcement, Strings of Magic will be available in audio soon. I had the pleasure of working with an amazingly talented narrator Freya Victoria who did an astounding job. Plus, I’m scheduled to do an interview with her this weekend, and guess what? It’s a podcast! Yes, that’s right! I am so excited and can’t wait to share it with you. So stay tuned for more information about that!
Here’s a little more info about the lovely Freya Victoria!
Freya Victoria is a Texas native who has always loved reading books from a very young age. She read every genre she could get her hands on and would read aloud each characterโs voice. Then, in the Fall of 2021, she began narrating professionally. She dreamed of putting the countless hours spent reading books she enjoyed into a side gig that would grow her imagination and love for stories. Freya is passionate about all genres but has found a special love for narrating fantasy. Growing up, Freya always struggled to develop a storyline that she could develop into a full-length novel, but one wintery day in 2022, she finally found an idea that stuck. Now she strives not only to narrate but to publish her first book in late 2022, which she also plans to narrate herself. In April 2022, Freya launched her podcast Freyaโs Fairy Tales, where she talks to authors about their journey into writing their novels, their favorite fairy tales as kids, and the excitement of holding their fairy tales in their hands. Every day, you will find her in the recording booth, working on someoneโs audiobook, producing more podcast episodes, or sitting on the couch reading and writing. She resides with her husband and daughter and hopes to one day move into the quiet country with only the sound of her keyboard madly clicking away as she writes her novel. And she will no longer have to edit out the sounds of her neighbors mowing or the trash truck driving by while narrating!
Strings of Magic will be book one, and now I will give you the blurb and a teaser cover for my next work in progress – book two, Wishes of Magic. Luke and Liv’s story continues…
If you were granted three wishes… what would they be? Nina Holmes is just an ordinary girl, living an ordinary life and always pursuing love. But when she’s given three wishes, it is quickly discovered her best friend, Oliva Pierce, is a witch, and an entirely new world opens. Nina and Oliva will have to face the wrath of vengeance from another witch who is hell-bent on settling the score. Wishes may seem innocent enough at first, but will they come with a hefty price? A friendship will be caught in the web of deceit. Love will fall on a razor’s edge, and dreams will become nightmares.
It will all begin with three little wishes.
So, if you were granted three wishesโฆ what would they be?
I really love writing about Luke and Liv, plus the side characters like Nina and Jacob. I love it so much that I have a mood board on Pinterest. I use different images for my characters and how I envision certain scenes while I write. You should check it out!
I will leave it on that note and get back to writing! Happy reading! Oh… and stay Magical!!!
As promised, hereโs a behind scene for Strings of Magic, my latest release on Amazon! If youโve grabbed yourself a copy and had the chance to read the book, then this is definitely something you donโt want to miss. But… if you havenโt read the book, then perhaps you should wait before you read any further. Spoiler alert.
Behind the Scenes โ Luke discovers Livโs gone.
Hudson and I finally reach Bear Creek Cabins, and itโs definitely an isolated place. Each rustic cabin sits along the rugged terrain as if someone wanted the mountains to ward off any trespassers. Itโs dark and bleak, but streams of light emit from the windows as we park.
Hudson looks over to me and shrugs. โHailey said this is the place.โ
I hop out of his truck and reply, โNext time, weโll pick the place.โ
Hudson slaps the back of his hand against my arm. โHey, isnโt that car over there Livโs friendโฆ the one Jacobโs been banging?โ
โFuck Hudson, why do you make it sound like that?โ I ask as we walk toward the first cabin.
โWhat? Want me to rephrase it for you? Heโs gettinโ him some on the side besides Luke. Sheโs human. Heโs a witchโฆ see the problem?โ he questions with a straight face.
I lift a shoulder nonchalantly. โI dunno, man. If Jacob doesnโt see it as a problem, then why should we fuckinโ care?โ I press my hand against Hudsonโs chest as we reach the front door. โHeyโฆ wait, do you feel that?โ
Hudson slowly creeps his eyes toward me. โMagicโฆโ we both say in unison.
I open the door and charge through the small hallway, Hudsonโs following close behind me. My eyes immediately land on Summer and then Jacob because theyโre nose to nose in some kind of heated argument. Off to the side, something ripples and rolls back and forth like a watery doorway. I lower my eyes and notice a stone circle. Quickly, I scan the room, Taylinโs holding two phones and a wad of clothes. She looks like sheโs on the verge of tears. โLuke?โ
โWhat the fuck is goinโ on?!โ I shout, still glaring around the room. Thereโs one person Iโm desperately hoping Iโll find. Maybe sheโs in another room, but before I search, I tip my head directly at Summer and ask with a menacing tone, โWhereโs Liv?โ
Hailey, Taylin, and Jacob all start talking at once, and none of it makes any damn sense.
โWe were casting a circle andโฆ.โ Taylin starts to ramble.
โIt was more than just a fuckinโ circle, Luke. They opened up somethingโฆ and I tried to stop them,โ Jacob shouts over Taylinโs voice.
Hailey shoves between them and grips my shirt. โPlease donโt be upset with us, Luke. Summer pushed Jacob, and now Livโs gone. Weโฆ we donโt know where she is.โ Hailey releases my shirt and rubs her forehead as if sheโs on the edge of losing her shit.
โSheโs in thereโฆ.โ Summer calmly answers, pointing toward the wavering doorway in the center of the circle.
I glance over my shoulder in the direction Summer pointed, and then I snap. โWhat the fuck?! Summer, what the hell is wrong with you? You think this is one of your little games that you like to getting off on? Huh?โ I shove Jacob back and stand so close to her that I can see every cruel thought behind her eyes.
She backs away from me and crosses her arms. โIt was an accident, Luke. Besides, letโs see what water girl can do,โ she remarks coldly. โSince she acts all smug and tough, then it shouldnโt be a problem for her to figure it out.โ I turn and head straight for the portal, but Summer quickly grips my arm. โLukeโฆ you donโt have to prove anything to us. Just wait and think this through first. We donโt know whatโs on the other side.โ
I jerk her hand from me. โIโm not fucking waiting, Summer. I have to find her,โ I state angrily and lunge myself into the unknown.
My feet hit the ground hard as if I had just leaped from a seven-story building. I stand, center myself and start to brush myself off, and quickly discover my clothes didnโt make it through the passage. Thatโs why Taylin was holding Livโs things. Son-of-a-bitch, that means sheโs here somewhere naked. And soaked to the skin because itโs raining its motherfuckinโ ass off. Iโve absorbed so many emotions within the last few minutes my adrenaline is staggering off the charts. I use it to my advantage and run through the woods. Itโs dusky and moonless, but I weave a trail back and forth, making sure I donโt lose the portal. I cast a spell to conceal it from anyone snooping around and softly call out, โLiv?!โ
I remain about twenty feet away from where I entered, hoping Iโll see her wandering through the trees. But with the rain and the darkness, itโs nearly impossible to see anything. โLiv! Can you hear me?!โ I raise my voice up a notch, but the rumbling thunder drowns it out. And then, through the haze, thereโs a soft afterglow of light in the distance. I trudge a path toward a hill and figure out thereโs a village burrowed in between the high foothills. I rest my back against a tree and try to sense her magic, her essence, anything that I can get a trace of, but I get nothing but dead air. Sheโs not here.
Maybe sheโs in the village.
I can feel the minutes slip through my fingers like sand as I wander around the outdated structures. What the hell is this place? There are no streetlights or cars. Nothing is modernized, and Iโm half expecting a farmhand troweling through the fields. I shift over to a barn or what looks like a barn with a door barely attached. The second I sneak inside, I kick something with my foot. A pair of shoes and pants are scattered out. I grab what I can and put them on, and luckily, they fit somewhat. And then I catch sight of a shirt and womenโs clothing tossed farther away. I inch closer, and thatโs when I hear a woman giggling and whispering softly, โAron, doesnโt your wife wonder why it takes you so long to get firewood each night?โ
โWhy would she wonder, Elsie, when sheโs fast asleep,โ the maleโs voice whispers back.
โBut doesnโt this blustery weather frighten her?โ
โNah, she wouldnโt notice if the top of the house blew away. Donโt you worry, Elsie, no oneโs going to notice weโre both gone, especially in this here weather. Theyโd be a damn fool for cominโ out,โ Aron reassures the woman.
I reach for the shirt beside a makeshift wall that separates me from them, and just as Iโm about to grab it, the woman suddenly says, โOh, I made you somethingโฆ I tucked it inside my bonnetโฆ.โ She moves around, and a touch of light shimmers outward. Itโs a lantern swaying back and forth, brushing the darkness aside. Sheโs cradling her bare breasts as she crawls and pats the ground, searching for whatever it is she made for him. But then she glances up and sees me.
I donโt have to read her emotions to know what will happen next. Her mouth pops open, her lungs suck in a hefty amount of air as her eyes grow wider, but before she lets out a blood-curdling scream, I whisper, โSomnum, this is only a dream.โ
I catch her before she falls face first into the dirt and gently place her down. I scarcely have enough time to tug on the shirt when the guy gets up and starts calling out to her, โElsie?โ
When he locks eyes with me, the first thing he asks is, โWho are you?โ But as I watch his eyes lower and he sees the woman lying on the ground, every emotion from him hits me like ammo. Bang-confusion. Bang-annoyance. Bang-fury. I donโt have enough time to cast the same spell on him because heโs coming at me like a loose grenade.
He balls up his fists and starts swinging. I dodge the first strike and catch the next one with my hand and growl, โWould you fuckinโ stand still for five seconds?!โ
And then he does something I didnโt think heโd do. He plows into me using all of his weight and slams us into a nearby wall. I ram my knee into his side, making him release me and stagger back. I shift a few feet away and wait as he steals enough air to stand upright. He tightly grips his ribs and slowly drags his scowling eyes over me, and asks, โWho are you?โ
I tilt my head and coldly reply, โYou donโt really wanna know becauseโฆ Somnum, this is only a dream.โ
I button the shirt up as he slumps to the groundโ I donโt even flinch when he lands with a loud grunt. And then I comb through the rest of the area and find a long dark cloak hanging from a crooked hook. I shake it off, slide it on and lurk toward the weathered door as it rattles against the howling wind. Now, itโs time to find Liv.
I hope you enjoyed that small glimpse into the behind-the-scenes! Just so you know, Strings of Magic is solely through Oliva’s perspective, her POV. And since I had several requests for this particular scene, I knew I had to write Luke’s perspective. Now, before I go, I want to announce there will be a book two, (Yes, I am currently working on it), titled Wishes of Magic. Plus, don’t forget there’s a Goodreads Giveaway going on right now for a chance to win a free ebook copy of Strings of Magic! So be sure to enter!
Here’s you’re chance to enter this Giveaway! This week I will be part of a fantastic weekly giveaway and I will have Nine Lives on Sale for 99 cents on Amazon. Below, I will place the links and a few details on some other special deals! So, keep reading…
When I first started writing out the story for ‘Daylight’ which is the first book in the No Death for the Wicked series, it was for a Halloween anthology dedicated to a charity. It was meant to be a short story with a limited word count and a wonderful opportunity to write with so many talented writers. As most now know the story has evolved and I am currently writing book 2 Midnight. As soon as I am finished with Midnight I will announce the release date, which I’m hoping will be sometime next month.
It is the ultimate challenge, writing a book with balance. As an author, I want to write a book that is capturing, intriguing and brings you along as my characters live out their lives. But here’s the thing with my writing, I write what the characters show me, they are the ones that take me down the writing path. I follow their lead. ย Do I want to be an author that is too easy? Predictable or boring? Well I certainly hope not, but do I want to give up everything to you in the first book? No, I don’t. I want you to desire for more, to have unanswered questions that stick with you and allow the secrets not yet whispered into your ear toย bring you alongย as the full story unfolds, whether it’s one stand alone book or a series.
Daylight, my first book in the No Death for the Wicked series, is a great example of this. I understand that my readers are open minded, thought provoking, and intelligent. ย So, I don’t fill my book with explanations of why a Reaper (Graham) and a young vampire (Mattie) have an instant attraction. Book two, Midnight, will bring more of this to light and book three, (Untitled) will wrap it up.
I also don’t dive into much of the backstory of Mattie or Graham because the first book is more of a discovery into who they are right now. How they handle themselves in different situations. What are their boundaries, or restrictions? What are their strengths or weaknesses?
There is so much in Daylight that can be expanded on, and that’s the fun part of a series. Why was Mattie so stuck in being young? ย How did Mattie’s Mother Dearest control and use her? Why is Graham so thunderstruck with Mattie? Why can’t Mattie get enough of Graham? What’s the deal with the serum Daylight? How is the serum made? What’s the rest of the world like outside of Solace? Are there other vampires out there? How does Pandora fit into the picture going forward? Or does she? Why wasn’t Krew a truly evil bastard? Was he really meant to be the villain or just someone representing the other side?
All of these questions and much more are set into Daylight for a reason. The answers are my secrets. Secrets to be whispered to you as you read along with the rest of the series. And that’s the real trick isn’t it? In Midnight you’ll find out more about the questions above, more secrets will rise up too. The one thing you can rest assured is that I will always wrap up my books with a nice little bow at the end so that you’re not left hanging.
I have what I came for, the serum they call Daylight, and him. Graham is a dangerously seductive Grim Reaper who shadows my every move. I wouldnโt say thatโs a bad thing, necessarily. Now, a clan of unforgiving elite vampires hunting me down by night, thatโs a downer.
Why? Why would another vampire, especially the โElitesโ, care if I walk the streets by day? Itโs because I have something they want.
The Voynich manuscript, a book you wouldnโt believe is real unless youโve seen it with your own eyes. Bound in the skin of an unnamed animal, this legendary book contains the history and knowledge of all vampires that walk this earth, and I have it.
They hunt the nights searching for me. I walk in the light of day trying to keep one step ahead of them, but what happens when my Reaperโs last grains of sand run out, forcing him to return to the underworld?
What will win? Love or revenge?
Join Mattie in this unique vampire love story with a gritty Gothic twist as we find out how far she will go to keep what she has.
“The story of life is quicker than the wink of an eye, the story of love is hello and goodbye.” – Jimi Hendrix

My first/favorite memories – ย
I grew up more or less as an only child, being raised by my Grandmother and Great Grandmother, but after church I would spend time with a rodeo family. There were four sisters and me. Reggie and Brandy were my best friends. Her daddy was a Veterinarian. They had horses… and I loved them so much. So, after church we’d draw straws to see who rode what horse. I always seemed to get Bolo, he was very “spirited”. There was no telling what might get him going.
So, one Sunday we raced out to the barn and were so excited that we didn’t even saddle them. They all had reins, but no saddle. Bareback, we rode to an old dirt racetrack and imagined the announcer over the crooked intercom speaker saying our names and the horses as we would stage for an impromptu race.
About that time, Reggie’s mom pulled up across the field and we all started racing toward the old Ford Bronco. We jumped two ditches on the way to her mom, but on the third and final one, Bolo stubborned up on me and he started bucking. Now talk about being scared, I hooked my hands into his mane, because the reins didn’t do a thing. I held on for what seemed to be forever, then he stopped, but the last buck slid me right off of his back and on to the ground.
I was white as a sheet, completely terrified. Reggie’s mom walked over to Bolo, grabbed his reins, laughing at me so hard I thought she’d stop breathing. Then she straightened up and looked at me. “Alright girl, get back up here and ride Bolo back to the barn, unbridle him, brush him down and feed him.”
My eyes were as big as a full moon, but scared or not, I wasn’t telling her “no” so I got back up, brushed myself off ย and rode him back to the barn. ย I guess she taught me that day to always get back up.
My Books & My Library
ย My Library is my own collection of Stephen King novels, some are like new, but a few in here are actually missing their cover, sadly. When I hit my teens I discovered Stephen King paperbacks, and just like horses, I couldn’t get enough. Thinner was the first one to start the avalanche of dark stories. One of the problems I ran into was having quiet time to read. You would think being the only child in a house with my grandmother that it wouldn’t be a problem, but it was. I sought out the only place in town that people would, one, not look for me and two, if someone did show up they would never think to bother me.
This is the actual graveyard I used to go to when I needed to get my fill of reading. It was quiet and I think since I was reading Stephen King, that no one there really minded.
Learning
Okay, first off I don’t want everyone to think that I’m on a morbid streak, but I’m simply stating facts. My first school was Sequoyah Elementary and it was built on top of an Indian graveyard. They tried to exhume all the graves, but missed a few. The original building was torn down and more bones were found during the new construction. They just tossed the bones into the new foundation and there are still graves under the playground there today. Creepy, I know, right?
I finished off my education at the other side of town, which, you can probably guess, is haunted too. Seminary Hall was an all girls school when Oklahoma was just Indian Territory, which today is part of Northeastern State University.
Along with my college degree, I am trained as a Paramedic and hold certifications as a Certified Nurses Aid, Dental Assistant, x-ray technician, and level two Reiki healer.
My Passions
If I said ghosts you’d probably throw something at me. So I will attempt to keep my paranormal obsession under wraps long enough to share some of the alternate things that get me all fired up, in good ways. My hair, which I cut recently and have been crying over ever since. Kidding! I do regret cutting it though. I’m passionate in discovering amazing people, like Cassey Ho, my blogilates goddess – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIJwWYOfsCfz6PjxbONYXSg She has this entire section called Cheap Clean Eats that I love along with her workout videos. Lindsey Stirling is another – https://www.youtube.com/user/lindseystompย She’s amazing musician with the best energy. I’ve watched her from early on.
I’m so thankful to have been given this opportunity here on My Lovely Blog – Blog Tour. I’ve selected two indie authors that are as passionate about their writing as I am about my own and I hope you will continue on the journey of discovery with them.
Kate Givans is a very talented contemporary romance author and also from Oklahoma! Her Tortured Soul series is a must read. Here is her link – http://authorkategivans.com/
J.M. Zuniga is another awesome indie author friend of mine who is not only a Young Adult Novelist, but an award-winning poet as well. Her latest book, Gwyneth, is another book that needs to hit your To Be Read list. Here is her link, enjoy –ย http://authorjmzuniga.blogspot.com/
Marcus Colten is living the perfect life, high school football star and dating the head cheerleader. He is popular, skilled in athletics and from a wealthy family. The football team he quarterbacks for just won their first district championship.
Marc doesn’t show it, but he is being haunted. Orphaned at the early age of two, he has ghostly memories of a past that makes his flawless model life feel out of place. And then there are the illusive dreams. Visions of someone that relentlessly possess his nights. What does it all mean? Where will it all lead? This time, heโs not the one that is at the top of the game.
I truly hope you will enjoy Ice Bound, I have discovered so much through this amazing excursion. From writing, rewriting, editing, revising to discovering and respecting the ways of the witch community. I’ve always had a fascination with witches, and I don’t think that fondness will ever leave me. I bet you could guess what I plan on dressing up for this All Hallow’s Eve. So, while you’re out trick-or-treating glance up at the moon for me and know I’m wishing you a blessed and happy Samhain!
Well hello, I was invited by an extremely wonderful and very talented ย author friend, Eva LeNoir, to participate in a โblog hop interview.โ In order to participate, I will answer a few interview questions, and then I will tag three other authorโs. They post interview questions on their blog pages. The folks they tag, will post their interview questions and answers on their blogs, and so forth. A lot of hopping! You can find Evaโs interview questions and answers ย here.ย
1. What are you working on right now?
I am working on my first Contemporary Romance which is titled Let Your Heart Drive. ย It is a tale of a young girl, Sinead Noelle, she’s struggling with life and all that it has to throw at her. She hungers to stand on her own two feet and face her own secret demons. What she finds during this life’s journey is, Shawn. A young man who works in road side for a car rental company. He doesn’t know it yet but all this time he’s been living a life filled with ease as he helps support his sister and niece. He thinks life is good, but then his own life spins out of control with a single phone call. ย When destiny brings these two together will barriers be broken, walls be destroyed, and secrets revealed?ย
2. How does it differ from other works in its genre? ย
I would say that I ย am pulling a lot from my own life experiences here in Oklahoma. So, that in itself, I feel, gives it a uniqueness that you won’t find in another book.ย
3. Why do you write what you do?
I write for myself mainly. I love stories and after reading a be-gillion books I feel something is missing. Something I feel drawn to put in a story. So, that usually leads me into writing, my way. I love the creation of a novel and the development of my characters. They speak to me and I listen, it is just the way I write. My hope is that once I am happy with one of my books that if finds its way into the hands of someone else that will enjoy it too.
4. How does your writing process work?
It is such a creative process. I expose my imagination to a variety of things, music, news, nature walks, anything really. I wait with my mind wide open and see what comes to me. If it doesn’t come I don’t write. My main problem, which is a good one, is that it doesn’t quit coming. I have about four books rattling inside my head right now and Let Your Heart Drive won its place in the front of the line, so that one is next.ย
In addition, I am tagging the following authors. Kristie Haigwood, Trish Marie Dawson, ER Pierce. Make sure to check out their blog posts on the following date: October 21, 2013.
I haven’t had a chance to connect much on my blogs lately. I am here now to give you the scoop on all the new and upcoming novels I am working on. With my Vampire novel, Daylight, out (my newest releaseย available on Amazon). ย I can redirect my focus back to Shadow Bound (the 4th book in the Crescent Bound Series). We have just recently designed the cover as well as Ice Bound’s cover, yes, I said ‘Ice Bound’!
Ice Bound will be the final installment of the series and it will be in Marc’s point of view. I’ve had several questions regarding certain aspects in Crescent Bound and I promise all will be revealed in time. And who better than Marc for that task.
I would like to add the covers and announce that they will be on Goodreads soon… with a pending due date.
