Picnic in the Park – Autism Awareness

autism month thank you banner

It has been said that autism in a family causes isolation. I can confess that in my family it has done just that. There are many kids living with autism that have sequestered themselves due to over stimulation leading to meltdowns, none of these experiences are fun for the child, parent, or bystanders.  What I discovered is that there is one place which allows for the openness a child with autism needs, and that is a park, a big wide open park. So, during April, all my sales of all my books went toward hosting a picnic in the park in my hometown.

We had a nice, supportive turn out. The best part was that the kids had a chance to run and play. We put together a decent spread of picnic food and shared time together with some amazing families. This post is to say thank you to everyone that purchased my books in April. You helped share some quality time with some awesome kids. Thank you so much!

Here are some photos from the picnic in the park.
